Cory Hicks ~ Guitar, Vocals
Born in Greensboro, NC., Cory Hicks got the music bug at an early age listening to his grandparents and uncles play and sing songs from the hills of North Carolina. By the time he got to college, he formed Private Spatula and His Flying Posse, a self-styled psychedelic hillbilly band that played the local college scene in Flagstaff AZ. It was during this time that Cory met up with John Lloyd and the two formed an acoustic duo that played through out Northern Arizona, playing blues, gospel, country and country blues. After college, Cory moved to Santa Cruz, CA. and was a founding member of The Sibling Brothers, further developing his traditional chops and playing brother duet's reminiscent of The Monroe Brothers. The duo played extensively through out the Bay Area until life brought Cory to Austin, TX. in 2000. Cory served a short tour of duty in the now defunct Cedar Fever and brought together Matt and a various cast of talented characters to form Twangzilla in 2005. Cory plays guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals.

Matt Nelson ~ Banjo, Vocals
Born in Cleveland, Matt Nelson often heard echoes of bluegrass and Appalachian old-time music although he never experienced a full frontal bluegrass assault until well after college. Having dabbled on piano and trumpet, Matt next made an understandably difficult, if illogical, 17-year transition from the French horn to banjo that was greatly enhanced by the hasty purchase of an actual banjo upon his arrival in Austin. Initially intended as a counterbalance to graduate school, he's continued on a decade long path to his own brand of primitive bluegrass banjo. Along the way, he helped form the Cedar Fever band with Howard and, through the magic that is music, met the rest of Twangzilla.

John "The Bomb" Stansell ~ Bass, Vocals
Born in El Campo, Texas, John is a fifth-generation Texan from a musical family whose bloodlines include Elvis Presley, Yes, the King is John's fifth cousin once removed. John learned to play guitar at a young age from his father, and the two still enjoy picking old blues and traditional tunes when they visit. John's musical interests expanded over the years to include ska, reggae, rock 'n' roll, punk, blues, early jazz, dixieland, bluegrass, and Appalachian old time. A versatile and reliable musician, John has played with numerous Austin bands such as Shorty Long and The Big Jug Band, which John founded in 2000, and at many of the iconic Austin venues including Liberty Lunch, Stubb's, Threadgill's, The Black Cat, The Carousel Lounge, Beerland, and Flipnotics. John has been playing upright bass since 2000. His style is tight and mean with solos that, influenced by his love of the guitar, would almost be called melodic. John joined Twangzilla in 2006, a perfect fit for the band's raw, hard-driving sound.
